Cricket Australia (CA), governing body for the sport in the country, is looking to recruit a head of commercial in the new year.

The successful candidate will report to Stephanie Beltrame, Cricket Australia’s executive general manager, broadcast and commercial. The role involves, but is not limited to, the development of long-term commercial growth strategies, planning and negotiating sponsorship agreements and innovating business-to-consumer commercial opportunities.

In launching the recruitment process, Cricket Australia is looking for candidates with at least 15 years of experience in a senior strategic commercial role. In June, Cricket Australia appointed Nick Hockley as interim chief executive after Kevin Roberts left the permanent chief executive position.

Cricket Australia is currently in the midst of a dispute with its free-to-air domestic rights-holder Seven West Media. The two parties are due to meet in court on March 15 next year as part of their ongoing row over the value of a media-rights contract following the onset of the Covid-19 crisis.

The governing body has six-year deals with Seven and pay-television operator Foxtel, covering 2018-19 to 2023-24, and worth just under A$200m ($152m) per year. Applications for the head of commercial position will close at the end of December.
