Sports data, technology and content solutions company Sportz Interactive (SI) has recently been appointed by News Corp Australia to create custom automated infographics and videographics for its coverage of major cricket events.

The agreement covered Australia’s Test series with India and the Big Bash League T20 competition. SI’s remit for the latter also included the SuperCoach fantasy game.

SI’s offering used real-time data feeds and pre-defined templates to create shareable content within a minute of a key event occurring. SI, which has its headquarters in Mumbai, said its proprietary engine allows rapid deployment with the ability to integrate data from a range of sources.

SI’s graphics are layered with match statistics, analysis and other key information relating to the events. The graphics also provide users with contextual data to support their fantasy gaming and sponsors with branding opportunities to monetise these assets.

Paul Zines, senior product manager of sport and wagering for News Corp Australia, said: “We saw this partnership with Sportz Interactive as a fantastic opportunity to prove that by visualising data in content, we can create a more engaging experience for our premium audience.

“The simplicity of the dashboard that was built for us allowed our editorial team to easily add contextual infographics and videographics to articles and social posts. Our team is excited to continue to work with Sportz Interactive in the future.”

Karthik Shankar, director of data analytics and video solutions for SI, added: “It was an incredible experience working with the News Corp Australia team. Architecting the technology and putting together a product that was truly outstanding was always a top objective, but it was even more impactful to see it brought to life for a world-class media powerhouse. We are definitely looking forward to building a deeper partnership with News Corp Australia.”
