The latest edition of the Syed Mushtaq Ali T20 trophy begins today (10 January). There is excitement amongst fans from all corners of India who consider the tournament as a mini-IPL. The tournament assumes importance as the first domestic event post-Covid-19 and also with the presence of many IPL stars. 

The tournament’s significance will further increase as the IPL 2021 mini-auction is scheduled to follow. Along with the players and fans, IPL franchises will also keep a close eye on players doing well in Syed Mushtaq Ali T20 trophy. The big performers in the tournament have the incentive of lucrative IPL franchise contracts. 

This is the only tournament from which IPL hopefuls can get in good practice ahead of IPL 2021. Some of the big names taking part are Dinesh Karthik (KKR), Suresh Raina (CSK), Robin Uthappa (Rajasthan Royals) and Ishant Sharma (Delhi Capitals). 

The Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy is scheduled to start on 10 January 2021, with the final on 31 January 2021. Karnataka are the defending champions. Bangalore, Kolkata, Vadodara, Indore, Mumbai and Chennai have been chosen as the six venues which will stage the Syed Mushtaq Ali T20 Trophy in a bio-secure bubble. 

All Group matches in Mumbai and Kolkata will be broadcast across Star Sports Network. The knockout matches and the final will also be broadcast through the network. Other than this, Disney+ Hotstar will Live Stream the matches of Syed Mushtaq Ali T20
